Assistant Engineer - Track:
The Transit & Rail TEC provides railroad and rail transit engineering services to support PB projects around the world. However, about 75% of the current work load in the track department is in the New York metropolitan region. This department works on multiple projects simultaneously, in close coordination with other technical departments inside and outside the TEC. The department also provides full-time staff to major projects where needed.

The candidate will report to the department manager. Candidate will work with and support a small team of track engineers. Levels of services range from conceptual planning to preliminary and final design to construction support. Specific responsibilities include computer-aided alignment design, special trackwork detailing, direct fixation or embedded trackwork detailing, third rail layout design, specification writing, report writing, field investigations, calculations, interface between civil and rail systems disciplines, shop drawing review, field inspection and reporting, researching technical topics, document control and other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements

BS degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering. The candidate should have from zero to five years of experience in railroad (preferably ) or civil transportation design with strong CAD skills and experience with alignment design software such as InRoads. A PE license or an EIT certificate , with an intention of obtaining a PE license, is highly preferred. Candidate should be very strong in written and oral communications. A high level of commitment is required, as employee is expected to work overtime on a somewhat frequent basis. Occasional night or weekend work on project sites is likely. This position can be based in Newark, NJ, NYC or Philadelphia.
