Job Description

Tasks

SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Assist the Supervisor of Structures, in the day-to-day operations of the Bridge & Building Capital Improvement Gangs to include maintenance and construction of bridges and buildings. Responsible for the compliance with FRA, local and national codes for construction and maintenance of bridges and buildings. Schedule B&B employees technical training, safety training, and safety compliance training. Distribution of all B&B related information letters to required personnel. Plan bridge and building construction phases from the beginning to the end of new construction. Manage Construction Projects including ordering material, equipment and the training of employees. Coordinate and schedule all work activity for major track outages with C&S/ET, Track and the Transportation department to accomplish work schedules.

EDUCATION: Must have a High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
Requirements
Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical) or an Engineering/Construction Management Degree or Military construction experience. Entry level Degree Engineer will be considered.
WORK EXPERIENCE: Experience as a Construction Project Superintendant or Experience in the Military Construction units (Army Corps of Engineers or Navy Sea-Bees) is a plus. Must be able to read and understand blue-prints and have an understanding of FRA/OSHA, local and national building codes. Must be able to direct Foremen and other gang members on proper troubleshooting procedure utilized to identify and correct Bridge/Structure problems. Must be able to estimate, set and meet construction schedules and budgets. Must be able to work in adverse weather and at elevated heights. Must be willing to work on Weekends or Nights when the job requires it.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: AMT-2, Norac, RWP qualified or the ability to get qualified
COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Excellent written and verbal Communications skills
TRAVEL: Yes (Philadelphia, PA area to New York, NY area and the Albany area)
