Job Description

Tasks

SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Assists in the development of construction work estimates for signals, the planning process, and budget management, structuring job tasks, drawings/sketches, material lists/costs, time estimates, labor clearances and maintenance of labor costs. Assists the Supervisor C&S in all C&S construction, test, troubleshooting and overhaul of signal equipment and circuits in accordance with AMT 27. Observes safe work performance standards and operations in completion of daily tasks and provides prompt reports in cases of accident, injury, and illness. Exercises leadership and judgment in daily interactions with the workforce including counseling, motivating, organizing, and directing. Conducts safety briefings, observes safety compliance, maintains qualifications AMT 23/27, RWP, NORAC and coordinates with other departments. Leads employees within the guidelines of the System Safety Program by being alert to physical hazards, which affect operations, the modification of, recognition of, or cessation of operations when conditions exists that conflict with a safe operating environment for Amtrak or others.

EDUCATION:
Requirements
Must have a High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate.
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Advanced technical school electrical with journeyman qualification.
WORK EXPERIENCE: Must have demonstrated field experience in C&S, AMT 23/27, RWP, NORAC and AMT 2. Must possess valid drivers license. Capable of troubleshooting signal circuits and equipment, be able to read blueprints, standards and plans, working knowledge of job briefing process, BRS Labor Agreements, Signal construction, C&S Material & Product knowledge, Accident Investigation and Confined Space. Prior satisfactory job performance required. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
PREFERRED WORK EXPERIENCE: Extensive C&S field experience.
COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
