Job Description: • Acts as senior GIS specialist who works on conventional practice but may handle complex features, such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional tools and difficult coordination.
• Plans, schedules, conducts or coordinates detailed work.
• Independently responds to technical / administrative instructions on results expected.
• Devises new approaches to problems and coordinates technical aspects of work.
• Meets with clients to discuss topics, such as technical specifications, customized solutions and operational problems.
• Work with internal and external clients to develop GIS data and map products per project and client guidelines.
• Gather, develop, and synthesize geospatial information from multiple sources and projection/coordinate systems.
• Perform GIS data quality assurance review.
• Responsible for completion of GIS metadata following client and/or corporate standards.
• Participate and perhaps lead business development efforts such as proposal writing and marketing as needed.
• Independently manage the GIS components of one or more large projects.
• Provide technical consultation in geographic information sciences to internal staff as well as external clients.
• Participate in training and other professional development activities to maintain excellence in GIS technology.
