Job Summary:

Provides leadership and direction for the materials functions to meet operational requirements in a safe and timely manner while maximizing service levels and optimizing cost. Manages Engineering and Mechanical materials for the Bryan Park work Equipment Shop.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities:
•Communicate with customers on a regular basis to understand customer needs.
•Manage inventory and third party service providers (e.g., cycle counts, stocking levels, obsolescence, warranty, quality, and packaging) to provide material availability and service to the customer.
•Manage the order process, forecasting, requisitioning, order placement, and scheduling delivery for Bryan Park capital programs to ensure work flow is not interrupted for material related delays.
•Manage warehousing to optimize safety, good housekeeping, efficiency, and space. .
•Ensure deliveries and handling of material by appropriate parties (i.e., milk run, operations, third party) to meet operational requirements for Work Equipment, Car and Locomotive..
•Ensure optimal transportation and logistics for delivery of product and services to the customer.
•Understands customer needs to improve work processes to ensure SPT Work Equipment Teams material needs are met.
•May manage teams of union employees.
•Communicate safety awareness, implement safety programs and training, and enforce rules that ensure a safe work environment.
•Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager.
•Responsibilities includes generating reports using Crystal software to ensure accurate accounting for capital projects


Minimum Qualifications:
•Bachelors or higher degree from an accredited institution required
•1 or more years of experience required in Purchasing/Procurement, Materials/Inventory Management, Transportation, Logistics, Rail Operations, Supply Chain Management, or Basic Warehousing?

Equivalent Qualifications:
•High School diploma/GED or Associates degree from an accredited institution required
•7 or more years of experience required in Materials/Inventory Management in the Railroad industry

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to meeting the above qualifications, any of the following are preferred:
•Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Marketing, Logistics, Transportation, Operations, or Supply Chain Management
•1 or more years of supervisory experience in Purchasing/Procurement, Materials/Inventory Management, Transportation, Logistics, Rail Operations, Supply Chain Management, or Basic Warehousing?
•Certifications/Licenses: Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or Certified Professional in Supply Chain Management (CPSM)

Knowledge and Skills:
•Microsoft Office skills
•Knowledge of financial concepts and procedures

Job Requirements:
•Some travel may be required.

•Work hours may vary in length and schedule. Work hours may include a nonstandard workweek and various shift work.
•Work hours may include on call 7 days a week, 24 hours per day, with extended periods of time away from home.
•Need to be available to report to work with two-hour advance notice.
•The applicant selected for this position may be required to successfully complete a background check and drug test. Passing results must be received prior to start date in new position.

Environmental Conditions:
•Work inside an office environment.
•Work outside in all weather conditions.
