Job Description


Job Summary:

Manages Positive Train Control (PTC) implementation projects, risk mitigation, and assesses critical paths and dependencies. Acts as a liaison between the PTC Project Management Office (PMO) and the PTC Sub-Teams. Coordinates with Project Managers of sub-teams to ensure the creation and maintenance of robust project plans and scorecards. Identifies and mitigates project risks, and communicate project progress.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities:

Plan, coordinate, and track the project activities for initiatives of PTC Sub-Teams. Manage small, medium, and large projects.
Assist in planning and organizing resources from across all PTC Sub-Teams along with the PMO to achieve Project objectives. Establish procedures and processes for project activities.
Coordinate with Project Managers of Sub-Teams to create, monitor, and maintain projects in project management software including managing project plan tasking and assignments.
Coordinate the activities of the project team with other departments and field operations. Ensure adherence to CSX standards and review project deliverables.
Manage project communication plan (including division visits) within the project team, participating departments, and the company as a whole.
Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager.


Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma/GED from an accredited institution required
5 or more years of supervisory experience required in Field Operations (Transportation, Engineering or Mechanical) managing large projects

Equivalent Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree from an accredited institution required
3 or more years of supervisory experience managing or leading Transportation, Logistics, or Rail Operations IT projects

Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to meeting the above qualifications, the following are preferred:

Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in Management or Engineering
5 or more years of supervisory experience managing or leading Transportation, Logistics, or Rail Operations IT projects
Certifications/Licenses: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

Knowledge and Skills:

Knowledge of CSX field operations and operating rules
Knowledge of project management methods
Knowledge of Primavera P6
Microsoft Office skills
Microsoft Project skills
Decision-making skills
Written and oral communications skills
Coaching skills
Collaboration skills
Ability to interact with business partners, vendors, and technical staff
Ability to communicate with all levels in the organization efficiently and effectively
Ability to create clear visual presentations for business and upper management
Ability to adapt to changes in priorities in a dynamic work environment
Ability to be detail oriented
Ability to establish rapport and relationships with individuals at all levels internally and externally

Job Requirements:

5% travel required (may increase as project requires).
Work hours may vary in length and schedule (may include a nonstandard workweek).
Work hours may include on call 7 days a week, 24 hours per day, with extended periods of time away from home.
The applicant selected for this position may be required to successfully complete a background check and drug test. Passing results must be received prior to start date in new position.
