SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The Senior Business System Analyst, AR/SD/CO/PS COE liaison, is the intermediary between the business and the Center of Expertise (COE). This position is responsible to manage Accounts Receivable, Sales and Distribution, Controlling, and Project Systems modules of SAP for service requests, enhancements, business process improvements from Accounts Receivable and Revenue group to the COE. This includes the management of COE tickets regarding requirements gathering, content approval, prioritization, testing and acceptance for the specific business application improvement. This position focuses the business support for the Billing, AR, Collections, Cost Accounting, and Projects as well as providing the integration support for the HCM, Logistical and Operational teams. The Senior Business System Analyst may also work with colleagues and relevant partner system contacts to troubleshoot, identify root cause, test, remedy, and/or mitigate issues that affect SAP’s ECC interfaces; may provide expertise on solution improvements, ensuring compliance to Amtrak’s quality standards, processes and procedures.
• Business Liaison - Manage the relationship between the Finance department and the COE to convey and provide a level of understanding of the requirements needed to support service tickets and enhancements relating to Billing, AR, GL, CO and PS business improvements.

• Manage and coordinate service tickets and enhancements to ensure consistency, prioritization and thoroughness in all proposed solutions. • Participate in the Information/requirement gathering inclusive of reporting requirements for any new financial initiatives or identified issues relating to Billing, Accounts Receivable, Collections, Controlling, and Project Systems. • Review of functional and technical designs affecting for proposed solutions. • Redefinition/redesign of any process definitions related to system changes initiated by the business. • Understand the Billing and AR systems within Amtrak to record financial activities, including technical, business and process integration. • Understand the use of Project and cost accounting systems to apply labor, overhead and related rates to billing and invoicing, security and financial control issues. • Understand the collection and application of cash payments. • Work with the COE and the business in completing/updating all necessary Business Process Definition documentation as well as other essential configuration documents. • Work closely with the COE and the business to prepare necessary functional documentation needed for the development of the business enhancements /custom development objects like reports, interfaces, conversions, extensions, forms and workflows (RICEFW) items. • Perform configuration activities necessary for prototyping and production solution. • Assist in system testing including unit, integration, regression and stress testing as well as developing test plans and test scripts covering all Finance functions and other necessary testing procedures related to support and/or enhancement packs • Assist in the development of end user reference material such as job aids needed to support/aid end users.
EDUCATION: • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or equivalent combination of education, training and work experience.
PREFERRED EDUCATION: • Master’s Degree or equivalent advanced degree. • CPA certification.
WORK EXPERIENCE: • Demonstrated accounting, finance, or other business experience. • Proven financial management experience reflecting progressive responsibility in the area of accounting, customer billing, financial analysis, and general financial applications. • Demonstrated skill in leading, managing, and motivating team members with varying levels of expertise. Ability to manage staff, delegate tasks and handle multiple priorities at the same time. • Extensive knowledge of GAAP and GAAS and the ability to apply them to the evaluation and creation of internal controls. • Strong oral and written communication skills with proven ability to interface effectively with individuals at various levels within and outside the organization sufficient to exchange information, work cooperatively, facilitate understanding, and persuade and influence others. • Ability to visualize, plan, negotiate and focus others to implement change. • Demonstrated skills in developing, implementing, and managing programs/initiatives. • Ability to develop and utilize performance measurements effectively. • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. • Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. • Demonstrated skill at effectively communicating financial concepts to financial and non-financial customers, including the delivery of formal presentations. • Experience in developing and implementing organizational processes and business systems, including the development of relevant policies and procedures governing these activities.
• Demonstrated skill analyzing, interpreting, and reporting quantitative data for business use and action. • Knowledge of cost accounting principles sufficient to plan and control corporate business activity. • Ability to lead multifaceted projects from concept to conclusion. • Frequently learns new tasks, both complex and simple, in order to maintain effectiveness in position. • Demonstrated skill in leading, managing, and motivating team members with differing levels of expertise. • Ability to communicate with all levels of management within Amtrak. • Proficiency with integrated accounting systems, PC Applications, and with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Power Point, and Word. • Strong organizational and project management skills.
PREFERRED WORK EXPERIENCE: • Extensive accounting, finance, or other business experience.. • Transportation industry experience. • Knowledge and experience associated with Amtrak’s accounting structure. • Experience with SAP modules FI-GL, FI-AR, PS, CO, and SD, Business Objects, and BPC.
COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, honest, ethical, reliable, responsible, and dependable.
