Tasks

SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The Senior Director, NEC Business Development position will identify, pursue, and capture commercial business opportunities and seek new partnerships and relationships in the Northeast Corridor. The incumbent will develop and implement strategies for driving new top line revenues and bottom line profits. The incumbent will oversee the negotiation of contractual agreements to formalize new/expanded partnerships with states, localities, and/or commercial business partners. The incumbent will also oversee large scale master planning efforts at and around large station complexes with multiple public and private stakeholders (e.g. WUT, NYP and Moynihan Phase II, Philadelphia 30th Street Station, Baltimore, Boston South Station, etc).
• Innovatively develops and implements plans and strategies for driving top line revenues and bottom line profits by exploiting the potential of Amtrak’s NEC assets. • Pursues and captures advantageous commercial arrangements (including sole source, joint venture, public/private partnerships, etc). • Oversees large-scale master planning initiatives at and around Amtrak’s largest stations and facilities, including Washington Union Terminal, the New York Penn and Moynihan Stations complex, involving multiple public and private stakeholders.

• Negotiates multi-party contractual agreements with public and private commercial entities, including financial institutions.
EDUCATION: • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Transportation, Engineering, Planning, Railroad Operations, and related fields.
PREFERRED EDUCATION: • Master’s Degree in Business, Transportation, Engineering, Planning, Railroad Operations, and related fields.
WORK EXPERIENCE: • Extensive business development and planning experience, including demonstrated transportation industry experience. • Extensive experience in business development strategy, planning, and execution. • Broad experience in highly visible, large-scale master planning efforts with multiple public and private stakeholders. • Excellent communication/ presentation skills and experience including distilling and communicating complex issues to senior level officers. • Demonstrated experience in managing staff, contractors, and cross-functional teams in multiple locations. • Ability to work collaboratively with staff and decision-makers at all levels while successfully challenging conventional practices and incorporating new approaches to the business. • Superior quanitative and analytical skills including demonstrated ability using PC-based applications (e.g., MS Office Suite). • Prior satisfactory job performance required.
PREFERRED WORK EXPERIENCE: • Extensive experience in the railroad and/or transportation industry supporting service expansion initiatives. • Experience with Amtrak’s financial planning/reporting technology systems.
COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: • Constantly communicates, comprehends, and responds to verbal statements and instructions both orally and in writing.
