Overview:

Senior Rail Professional with experience in the analysis, planning, and design of rail projects.

Experience preparing rail feasibility studies, PSRs, and PS&E packages for rail projects and grade separations.

Familiarity with both commuter and freight rail networks in Southern California and an understanding of their practices, standards and guidelines.

Experience working with agencies including Metro, Metrolink, NCTD, UPRR, BART, Caltrain, VTA, BNSF, SANDAG, and California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC).



The candidate will coordinate with other HNTB National and Regional Directors, Client Service Leaders and other Practice Leaders to support the development of a National Rail Program. Further, the candidate must be willing to participate in developing and delivering projects with a goal of 40% utilization at the end of the first year of service.

This Senior Professional will maintain memberships in technical organizations such as AREMA and APTA so as to maintain a technical presence within the industry. Additionally, this person will be viewed as a key individual to serve as a high level point of contact between the client and HNTB. This person will be responsible for building new and strengthening relationships with state and federal agencies, railroads, transit authorities, and private corporations to strengthen and build HNTB’s rail program
Responsibilities:

Develop, grow and nurture key client relationships and serve as one of the primary company contacts on MEGA projects.
Have full managerial responsibility for all aspects of the projects including scope development, contract negotiations, cost control, staff management, quality control, hands-on project management, and cash management.
Actively manage client’s budget, schedule and program; HNTB budget and schedule; project communications and documentation.
Administers relevant aspects of a formal quality control program.
Identifies and markets additional business opportunities with key Rail /High Speed Rail clients.

Basic Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 15 years of industry experience and be nationally recognized as a leader in the railroad consulting community.

An engineering degree or technical equivalent is required and professional registration is preferred. California PE desirable.

Experience as a Senior Project Manager and leading skilled, motivated project teams to successful project completion is required.

Strong leadership skills and a proven ability to communicate effectively with clients and staff is a must.
