Job Description

Description The Senior Staff Engineer-Geotechnical will be knowledgeable in soil classification in accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS), capable of logging of soil borings and excavations during subsurface investigations, participate in the analysis, design and construction observation of highway, railroad, ports, and transit projects. The primary duties will be to perform the following tasks: (1) logging of exploratory borings and test pits during subsurface explorations, (2) the analysis and design of foundations for roadway and railroad bridges; (3) slope stability and settlement of earthen embankments; (4) analysis of retaining walls; (5) seismic design of bridge foundations, retaining walls and slope stability/liquefaction; (6) observation of construction activities such as pile driving, drilled shaft construction, and shoring; and (7) preparation and technical writing of reports and geotechnical-related specifications. The work will primarily be in Irvine, but some limited travel is expected. Candidate should have good verbal and writing skills, able to perform field work and have a strong computer background.

Requirements BS in Civil Engineering and EIT License required. PE license is preferred. A minimum of 5 years experience with most aspects of geotechnical engineering projects - from project development and design to construction. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Familiar with geotechnical software (GeoStudio, LPile, SHAKE, gINT, FLAC). Position may require travel and field assignments.
