Parsons Brinckerhoff, a global planning, engineering and construction management firm, has an immediate need in our Glastonbury, Connecticut office for a senior bridge/structural engineer. The position requires strong technical, organizational and interpersonal skills. The candidate must be an enthusiastic, organized and motivated person to lead and manage tasks on all types of challenging projects.

Responsibilities include a variety of structural design and construction engineering tasks in support of multiple ongoing projects highlighted as follows:

Design and development of plans specifications and estimates of steel and concrete bridges, tunnels, retaining walls and overhead catenary structures from preliminary design through final design and construction.
Bridge design / replacement utilizing accelerated bridge construction techniques.
Perform inspection tasks including bridge verification inspections, bridge ratings and inspection reports.
Coordination and oversight of the design of multiple bridge, retaining wall and culvert structures.

The position is an exciting opportunity in support of multiple ever changing and challenging rail and heavy highway design and construction projects.


Job Requirements

Candidates should possess 8 to 12 years experience in an engineering office with a focus on bridges. Successful candidates must have the ability to work both independently and within a team environment with the capability to delegate and supervise tasks to support staff. Strong writing skills to support technical reports and proposals as well as oral communication skills are required, and proficiency with structural design programs (Merlin Dash, STAAD, VIRITS, etc.), MS Office and Microstation preferred. Connecticut DOT experience preferred. BSCE, CT PE and ability to work in this country immediately required. MSCE preferred.
