Tasks

SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The System Engineer, Application Delivery and Performance Management works with application developers as well as support personnel to design and implement performance monitoring systems that will provide reports showing near-real-time application performance as well as produce alerts when application performance falls below established thresholds. He/She will also work to design efficient methods for delivering applications to both onsite as well as remote clients.
The Technologist is an expert technical role and works on one or more projects as a Technology subject matter expert or technical consultant. When involved with a project team, acts in a consultative manner and typically provides administrative or management type of support. Responsible for research and analysis of complex technologies for at least one area of specialty.
Technologists design technology solutions that may span the full spectrum of IT hardware and software. They may create prototypes and participate in the development or enhancement efforts, while providing recommendations regarding technology, vendors, outside consultants, and trading partners. Each individual concentrates on one or more area of specialty or expertise that usually focuses on systems that significantly

impact the operational effectiveness of the organization or cutting edge technologies that will drive new business. Additionally, Technology Consultants provide assistance with escalated support issues, mentor others within technology-related areas, and provide subject-matter expertise on various project teams.
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
WORK EXPERIENCE: • Works on complex tasks, projects or supports issues that involve a high degree of risk, impacts business unit performance and makes use of the individual’s high level of knowledge within one or more areas of specialty. • Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to the following: • Researches and analyzes advanced technology trends in area(s) of expertise. • Assesses emerging technologies. Evaluates and may recommend new products or tools for the organization. Assists in cost-benefit and risk analysis. • Makes recommendations and influences long-term technology strategy and planning for multiple business units. • Assists in the development and analysis of source selection strategies. • May work with service providers to ensure their in-scope technical solutions are consistent with the enterprise’s business strategy and architecture. • May serve as a consultant and escalation point for issues. May provide project managers with technical consultation and advice, enabling quick response to inquiries related to the program. • Provides technical analyses to help define, assess, and monitor the technical aspects of the program or service. • Designs innovative solutions using new technologies. Recommends short-term alternatives when appropriate. • Troubleshoots existing information systems or networks to identify errors or deficiencies. Brainstorms possible solutions and evaluates alternatives against decision criteria. • Assists in the resolution of support issues escalated by senior operations or development personnel. Works with vendors during the problem-resolution process as needed. • Provides technical expertise across business functions. Identifies opportunities to improve business processes via new technologies. • Requires some experience within one or more specialty area. • Demonstrated ability to perform all essential functions. (See above) • Knowledge of IT strategies and how they support client business, from a technical advisor standpoint. • Ability to conduct research and analysis of complex technologies for at least one area of specialty. • Demonstrated broad range and depth of knowledge in the respective area of expertise within the organization. • Knowledge of technological advances related to subject-matter. • Skill in making presentations and effectively communicating recommendations to individuals and groups.
PREFERRED WORK EXPERIENCE: • Demonstrated years experience working in a technical IT environment with recent emphasis on application delivery and performance monitoring. • Technical certifications such as PMP, MCSE, Citrix CCA
COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Problem-solving and effective oral and written communication skills.
