Job Description Position Title: Corporate Insurance Manager Department: Finance Reports To: Sr. VP Finance and Treasurer Individual Contributor or Supervisor: Individual Contributor FLSA Status: Exempt Location: Kansas City, MO POSITION SUMMARY: Overall responsibility for managing the corporate insurance programs, excluding health and welfare. Analyzes and identifies insurance needs and secures optimum coverage for the organization POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Formal Education: Bachelor’s degree in financial discipline Master’s degree preferred Experience: Three to five years of insurance or risk management experience Financial modeling and analysis experience Proven experience with successfully negotiating insurance transactions and loans preferred Skills: Strong business acumen – Ability to analyze business activities to identify insurable risks and determine the financial benefits of obtaining insurance to cover such risks. Strong analytical and financial skills. Excellent communications skills – oral, written and presentation. Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills – interact with insurance companies, brokers and lawyers routinely. Solid skills in MS Office suite of products Job Duties: •Overall responsibility for managing the insurance programs for KCS and subsidiary companies, including (but not limited to) USD 600m Liability program, USD 300m Property program, Directors & Officers program, Employee Practices Liability Program & Non-Rail Auto Insurance. •Analyzes and identifies insurance needs and secures optimum coverage for the organization. •Responsible for coordinating the annual renewal of existing insurance programs, including developing and presenting relevant company data to insurance providers. •Assess corporate activities to identify insurable risks. •Maintain detailed knowledge of the company, system-wide risk and claims/loss factors, capital development plans, safety programs, and business continuity/replacement program plans. •Manage contract matters related to the selection and retention of outside insurance brokers & maintain relationships with insurance brokers. •Manage relationship with KCS’s captive insurance company. •Handle administration of corporate insurance premium accruals and payment processes. •Acts as a resource for KCS departments on all insurance related matters. •Provides presentations and consultations to develop awareness of KCS insurance programs and the integration of approved insurance language into all contracts.
