POSITION: Financial Specialist DEPARTMENT: Finance LOCATION: Philadelphia, PA SALARY: USD 50,000 - USD 61,000 POSITION NO: 90052313 INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL APPLICANTS DUTIES: Responsible for the review of assets to be capitalized (USD 500-USD 600M/year) to ensure they meet internal guidelines, assisting with inputting assets to the system via macros or other means and reviewing project close-out documents for accounting issues. Also responsible for retiring assets (USD 200-USD 300M/year) utilizing advanced Excel functionality, financial calculations and professional judgment. EDUCATION: Must have a Bachelor of Science in Accounting or Finance. Or the equivalent combination of education, training, and/or work experience. Prefer CPA or progress towards CPA designation. WORK EXPERIENCE: Must have a minimum of 3 years professional experience. Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principals, advanced Excel skills and solid overall PC skills. PREFFERED WORK EXPERIENCE: Excel Macro experience, fixed asset accounting experience Power Plant experience, and/or experience with implementation of new financial systems, preferably SAP. Prior satisfactory job performance is required. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Fast learner, motivated and an independent worker. COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Able to communicate with all levels of management within Amtrak, external and internal auditors and outside agencies. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None TRAVEL: 5%
