LEAD PROJECT ADMINISTRATOR

BASIC FUNCTION
The Lead Project Administrator manages railroad projects and provides technical support for maintenance and construction personnel. This position also provides technical support to customers.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
‘*’ denotes an essential function of the job

* *Provides administrative and technical support to the railroad as directed by Project Engineer.
* *Performs liaison duties for the railroad, fielding requests from federal, state and local agencies, and/or the public with regard to railroad issues, resolving issues or routing the callers to applicable group/personnel.
* *Manages railroad projects by prioritizing, organizing and managing issues for resolution, internal and external communications and documenting status of projects.
* Provides daily status reports to the Project Engineer.
* *Leads Preliminary Engineering activities for project scope definition and funding authorization
* *Leads and monitors all scheduling activities relevant to preliminary engineering, engineering design, material requisitioning, construction, testing, and in-servicing.
* *Assists Engineering Manager to evaluate the financial performance of the project.
* Initiates and manages new railroad projects.
* Maintains project database to ensure project timelines are being met.
* Archives completed projects as required.
* Provides technical support for railroad construction and maintenance personnel.
* Works with design vendors to provide guidance and clarification to ensure project requirements are met.
* Prepares various project documents.
* Coordinates project construction to help facilitate project completion.
* Assists in the review and editing of railroad contracts and agreements.
* Attends Company and industry-related meetings, as required.
* Establishes individual goals which are aligned with the Companys business strategies and objectives.
* Functions as a contributing member of the departments team and other teams, as assigned.
* Assists the department in the accomplishment of the teams goals.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
A. Bachelor of Science degree in a technical field or equivalent.
B. Six or more years of industry experience.
C. On-Track Safety Certification
D. Lone Worker Certification

TECHNICAL ABILITIES

* Basic computer literacy and ability to use mouse
* Basic understanding of Wayside Signaling Systems and Crossing Warning System operations, equipment and design
* Ability to understand and interpret financial data
* Complete understanding and efficient use of ERP systems such as BAAN
* Advanced understanding and efficient use of tools such as MS Projects, MS Excel, MS Access, Primavera P3
* Ability to read and understand civil engineering drawings and plans
