The closing date for this position is March 11, 2010. The salary range for this position is USD 63,819 per year.

There are two positions that will be based in the following locations:
1 Taylor Yards-Los Angeles and 1 Pomona

Summary of Duties:
One incumbent will report to the Assistant Superintendent Commuter Operations and one will report to the Assistant Superintendent Road/Terminal Operations Metrolink. The incumbents are expected to assist management in achieving designated goals in areas of revenue, cost, diversity, passenger and employee satisfaction, safety, training, daily operations, and crisis management. The incumbents will assist with injury and new-hire procedures, ensuring that management maintains accurate records for Train & Engine employees with regards to medicals, leave of absences and vacations. Incumbents will support the Road Foreman and Trainmasters during vacations and other absences as directed by the Assistant Superintendent. Key objective is to develop and support all members of the crew base and to develop positive and productive working relationships with counterparts as well as other internal and external support groups in supervising day-to-day operations. The incumbents may be expected to travel on the train to support special operations and to monitor crew performance. The incumbents will assist conductors in assuring that specified Train & Engine policies and procedures are understood and followed by the Train & Engine employees.

Education:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Prefer bachelors degree in transportation, management or related field or equivalent combination of work experience, training, and/or education.

Work Experience:
Must have demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills. Some relevant transportation service experience. Prefer demonstrated business and financial manager experience. Demonstrated ability to qualify on applicable operation rules.

Other Requirements:
Must qualify on the General code of Operating Rules, Timetable Special Instructions, Conductor Revenue Policies and Procedures. The incumbents are expected to be proficient with various computer applications, i.e., MS Office, ARROW, ETRAX, LMS, OASIS, TDRS & familiar with the SAP system.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
Demonstrated experience communicating orally and in writing within and outside of the organization.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
65 agreement covered employees.

Travel:
20 percent.
