Job Summary
Operate loading and unloading equipment at coal and ore piers and perform electrical and mechanical repairs.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)
Operate loading and unloading equipment such as radio controlled and overhead cranes, dumpers, ship loaders, belts and feeders, crushers and other equipment
Diagnose electrical component malfunctions
Perform electrical and mechanical repairs to pier equipment such as lighting and heating, including both low voltage and high voltage repairs
Install and maintain electrical wiring and equipment such as: Electric Motors, Generators, Switchboards, Meters, Lighting Systems, Electric Welding Machines, Electric Switch Heaters, Heating/Air-Conditioning Units, Control Systems, Transformers
Pay Rate
USD 28.24/hour full rate

Training
You will attend one week of training at the Railroad Education & Development Institute in Atlanta, GA. CSX will pay for travel, lodging and meals as required by collective bargaining agreement.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma/GED
18 years of age or older
Valid Drivers License
Four or more years experience working as an electrician
Experience reading and interpreting blueprints
Experience in interpreting circuit schematics
Preferred Qualifications
Journeyman Electrician
Master Electrician
Basic Competencies

Verbal comprehension (Understand oral and written communications--both general and technical)
Communication skills (provide clear instructions/directions)
Reasoning skills (problem solving and troubleshooting skills)
Basic Math
Physical Requirements
Heavy work, lifting up to 70 pounds occasionally and up to 100 pounds on a rare basis
Reach/handle/touch/stoop/bend/kneel/crouch/crawl/balance/climb
Demonstrate auditory and visual acuity/tracking/inspection
Employment Conditions
Work safely to prevent on the job accidents and injuries
Wear protective equipment such as hard hat, hearing protection, safety-toe boots, or safety glasses
Work hours may include a nonstandard workweek, overtime, and various shift work
Complete annual training and pass safety rules examination
May require random testing for drugs and/or alcohol
Must pass all required assessments
Must pass a background screening
Must pass a post-offer medical examination, including drug and physical capabilities test
Work in a setting requiring frequent revision in work assignments
This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement, membership is required
Environmental Conditions

Work outside in all weather conditions and on occasion at heights in excess of 100 feet.
