We have an exciting opportunity available for a Product Systems Specialist focused on locomotive/onboard equipment.

We are open to candidates in the following areas:

Florida, California, Kansas City, Louisville, Texas

BASIC FUNCTION
The ITS Product/System Specialist provides technical and product support, and troubleshooting for products/systems both onsite and over the telephone; provides training to customers and co-workers on the installation, maintenance, and testing of Company products/systems, communicates information internally regarding improvements to Safetran Systems locomotive and onboard products and systems, customer problems and concerns, and enhancements to improve quality and reliability.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: Technical Support Service Manager
Supervises: This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
‘*’ denotes an essential function of the job
A. *Provides field service, technical support, and troubleshooting to internal and external customers for Safetran products and systems, both onsite and over the phone, on a 24 hour basis. (As needed)
B. *Provides product training to internal and external customers as requested.
C. *Writes reports, field investigations, describing problems and suggestions for improvements to products and systems for use internally. Communicates information between customers and other departments in the Company.
D. *Maintains customer visibility and builds relationships with customers.
E. *Develops training presentations and demonstration units.
F. *Installs and configures software and programs parameters into various SSC products and systems. Provides support for commissioning of SSC products/systems.
G. *Tests products to ensure functionality and to diagnose customer related problems.
H. *Investigates and resolves application issues and configuration for SSC products and systems.
I. *Maintains an understanding of railroad equipment and systems.
J. *Establishes individual goals which are aligned with the Companys business strategies and objectives.
K. *Tests applications to determine the cause of problems encountered in the field and compatibility with other software applications; Support writing test software and test procedures.
L. *Consults with customers in analyzing, troubleshooting and resolving issues.
M. *Trains both external and internal customers on Safetran products and software uses.
N. *Support the development of product procedures, product manuals, training materials.
O. *Supports various application programs.
P. *Creates documentation of all product and software installations, operational issues, training issues, customer issues and resolutions in order to assist future services with customers.
Q. *Consults with other departments on time and material requirements for projects
R. *Provides cross-functional services while working closely with department team members.
S. Analyzes site surveys of railroads and recommends locations for equipment.
T. Supports installation of products and equipment.
U. Attends Company and industry-related meetings and training as required.
V. Functions as a contributing member of the departments team and other teams, as assigned.
W. Assists the department in the accomplishment of the teams goals.
X. Performs other duties as assigned.

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
A. Ability to maintain constant visual attention and a high level of mental concentration for significant periods of time. Ability to use color vision and depth perception in all directions.
B. Ability to solve complex problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where some standardization exists. . Ability to apply mathematical concepts.
C. Ability to read, analyze and interpret industry and product-related technical information.
D. Ability to perform mechanical operations; mechanical aptitude.
E. Ability to occasionally lift objects and equipment from the floor/ground.
F. Ability to stand constantly on hard and/or slippery surfaces including concrete, ballast rock, dirt, and metal.
G. Ability to occasionally reach above the shoulder and in a forward or lateral direction.
H. Ability to occasionally kneel.
I. Ability to sit, stand, climb and lift equipment for extended periods of time.
J. Ability to occasionally carry equipment.
K. Ability to occasionally grip hand tools.
L. Ability to occasionally climb signal masts, bridges, towers, and similar structures when necessary.
M. Ability to manipulate necessary hand and power operated tools, keyboards, office equipment, computer software, hardware and equipment.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS
A. This position requires working in both the internal and external environment frequently and being subject to changes in temperature and varied weather conditions.
B. This position occasionally requires working long or non-regular hours on weekends, holidays, and/or nights.
C. This position requires using more than normal care to prevent dangerous situations.
D. This position requires exposure to physical hazards, traffic, moving trains, and equipment where special training, safety equipment, clothing, and safety considerations are required.
E. This position requires occasional exposure to noise, bright and dim light, vibration, moving equipment, and various environmental conditions such as fumes, chemicals, dust and/or oil, and slippery floor surfaces.
F. This position requires frequent travel.

Qualifications


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
A. Two year certification/degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering, or equivalent technical experience. Bachelor degree in electrical engineering preferred.
B. Cross-functional service with a minimum of ten years industry related experience in railroad/mass transit; which also includes a minimum three years experience with locomotive/onboard equipment maintenance, installation, troubleshooting.
C. Electronics background preferred and experience with electronic testing equipment.
D. Experience with application programming languages preferred.

E. Fluent in English & Spanish (speaking & writing)
