Job Summary
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heavy off-track equipment and roadway machinery.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities

* Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)
* Troubleshoot and perform heavy repairs to all types of equipment components including gas and diesel engines, transmissions and differentials, hydraulic pumps, motors, cylinders, valves, various workheads, booms, electrical systems and conveyor belt systems
* Solve work related problems, make decisions, and provide instructions
* Understand mechanical operations of machinery
* Drive heavy duty service truck, including truck mounted crane

Pay Rate
USD 25.10/hour

Training
You will attend at least two weeks of training at the Railroad Education & Development Institute in Atlanta, GA. CSX will pay for travel, lodging and meals as required by collective bargaining agreement.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

* High School/GED
* 18 years of age or older
* Valid Drivers License
* Welding experience
* Mechanical repair experience
* Read and understand schematic drawings
* Basic knowledge of hydraulic systems, electrical and electronic systems, and pneumatic systems as it pertains to the operation and maintenance of roadway machinery

Basic Competencies

* Verbal comprehension (Understand oral and written communications-both general and technical)
* Communication skills (provide clear instructions/directions)
* Reasoning skills (problem solving and trouble shooting skills)
* Mechanical aptitude

Physical Requirements

* Heavy work, lifting up to 70 pounds occasionally and up to 100 pounds on a rare basis
* Stoop/bend/kneel/crouch/balance/climb on an occasional basis
* Demonstrate auditory and visual acuity/tracking/inspection

Employment Conditions

* Work safely to prevent on the job accidents and injuries
* Wear protective equipment such as hard hat, hearing protection, safety-toe boots, or safety glasses
* Work hours may include a nonstandard workweek, overtime, and various shift work
* Complete annual training and pass safety and track worker rules examination
* May require random testing for drugs and/or alcohol
* Must pass all required assessments
* Must pass a background screening
* Must pass a post-offer medical examination, including drug and physical capabilities test
* Extensive travel may be required depending on the job assignment
* This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement; membership is required

Work inside, in confined spaces or at elevated heights.
