Job Description

Job Responsibilities

Responsible for the coordination of internal Jacobs safety procedures/requirements/training

Liaison with the Client Safety Director regarding the implementation of Owners safety program
Reviews the safety programs submitted by the general contractors during the competitive sealed proposal process
Provides support to the Project Managers during construction regarding safety issues
Document all instances of savings or ‘value added’ on an ongoing basis
Assesses safety and health program performance; identifies trends through data analysis

Provides/develops technical safety training; conducts safety management training for supervisory and management personnel
Investigates accidents to determine causes; prepares reports of investigations for use in recommendation of preventive measures and the development of safety programs

Training and Experience

Bachelors Degree in Health, Safety & Environmental management or equal with 3 years or more field experience in the safety profession.

7 or more years experience as a safety professional of which 4 or more must be in industrial and / or construction safety
2 years or more rail safety experience

Advanced technical training and / or advanced HSE certifications such as CSP, ASP, CHST, OHST, etc…

OSHA Construction Outreach instructor

Current 1st aid, CPR & AED certifications
Other Essential Functions

Proficiencies must include but not limited to –

Safety management

OSHA & FRA regulations

Safety planning
Hazard Communications
Verbal & written communication skills
Computer skills including Word, Excel & PowerPoint
Audits & site assessments
Hazard recognition, Evaluation & Controls
Behavior Based Safety Observation Programs

Incident prevention
