SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The Senior Director, Business and High Speed Rail/Inter-City Passenger Rail Development is responsible for the development and implementation of Amtraks high speed and intercity passenger rail development program. The Senior Director will also direct the business development function that will support Amtraks position in the expanded intercity passenger rail marketplace including the development of strategies, targeting of opportunities, and the implementation of contractual agreements to formalize new/expanded partnerships with states, localities and/or commercial business partners.

EDUCATION: Bachelors degree in Business, Transportation, Engineering, Planning, Railroad Operations or other related field, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.

PREFERRED EDUCATION: Masters degree in Business, Transportation, Engineering, Planning, Railroad Operations or other related field.

WORK EXPERIENCE: Extensive experience in business development strategy, planning and execution and in leading proposal efforts to successful completion in response to RFPs.

PREFERRED WORK EXPERIENCE: Extensive experience in the Railroad and/or Transportation industry supporting service expansion initiatives. Experience with Amtraks financial planning/reporting/technology systems.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: While administrative support is available with the office of the AVP of Performance Management and VP of Policy and Development, the incumbent is expected to be largely self sufficient with respect to business development initiatives. Contract support for major initiatives will be available.

COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Extensive communication and presentation skills and experience including distilling and communicating complex issues to senior level officers. Demonstrated experience managing staff.
