TranSystems’ Schaumburg, IL office has an opportunity for a structural design engineer in our growing office. This project engineer position requires 6-10 years of experience in the structural design, rehabilitation, and inspection of bridges along with the preparation of load ratings, construction documents, specifications, and estimates. Projects include new structures and the rehabilitation or repair of structures for both roadways and railroads. Candidates will be responsible for the design of projects, monitoring and adhering to budgets and schedules, performing QC reviews, and working with other staff in completing projects. Applicants must possess strong technical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to travel for bridge inspection projects and to work well in a team environment on multi-disciplinary projects. A Professional Engineer license in the state of Illinois (or other state with the ability to become licensed in Illinois through reciprocity within 6 months) is required; a Structural Engineer license in the state of Illinois is preferred. Experience with AASHTO, Illinois Department of Transportation, and/or Illinois State Toll Highway Authority standards and requirements for structures is preferable. CADD experience and familiarity with structural programs such as MDX, ConSpan, and RC Pier are a plus.
