Job Summary:
Manages all aspects of a material handling terminal during an assigned shift. Supervises the unloading and ground storage of coal from railcar, loading of coal to vessel, unloading ore ships, and loading of railcars with iron ore. Partners with CSX forces and outside ILA (International Longshoremans Association) contractors. Works directly with CSX customers to ensure timely loading and unloading of vessels. Develops and manages ground storage contracts in conjunction with coal customers requirements in order to accommodate movement of coal through the terminal.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities:

* Plan and oversee complete operation of Chesapeake Bay Piers during a specified shift as directed by Maintenance and Operations managers.
* Directly supervise railroad union personnel to ensure the safe operation and maintenance of equipment associated with loading and unloading railcars and vessels at Chesapeake Bay Piers.
* Ensure all operations are conducted in accordance with CSX safety and operating policies and procedures.
* Establish and maintain a professional relationship with customers, suppliers, vessel agents, the U. S. Coast Guard and other regulatory agencies.
* Manage manpower and operations in an efficient manner to reduce costs.
* Enforce all regulations related to Homeland Security and the CSX facility security plan.
* Oversee all contractors and outside personnel that are working at Chesapeake Bay Piers.
* Maintain documents and records associated with the operation of the facility.
* Work with the community on governance in an effort to enhance CSXs relationship with community.
* Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

* Bachelors degree from an accredited institution required in Engineering, Supply Chain, Transportation, Logistics, or Operations
* 1 or more years of experience required in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Electrical Maintenance, or Mechanical Maintenance

Equivalent Minimum Qualifications:

* High School diploma/GED or higher degree from an accredited institution required
* 5 or more years of experience required in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Electrical Maintenance, or Mechanical Maintenance

Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to meeting the above qualifications, the following are preferred:

* Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain, Transportation, Logistics, or Operations
* 3 or more years of supervisory experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Electrical Maintenance, or Mechanical Maintenance

Knowledge and Skills:

* Knowledge of electrical or mechanical engineering
* Knowledge of the transportation or rail industry and of coal unit train operations, planning, resources, and constraints
* Ability to supervise repairs to heavy equipment, conveyors, dumpers, ship loaders, and associated electrical equipment
* Problem-solving skills
* Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while under time constraints
* Ability to work in a team environment
* Written and oral communication skills

Job Requirements:

* Wear protective equipment such as welding shields, hard hat, hearing protection, steel-toe boots, work boots, safety vest, face shield and safety glasses.
* The applicant selected for this position may be required to successfully complete a background check and physical including a drug test. Passing results must be received prior to start date in new position.

* Work inside an office environment.
* Work outside in all weather conditions.
